2 more days to holidays
spoke to my sister last nite and realised we have had almost the same experiences at the ski area. the first time we got off the ski lift we both fell down.. hers being a more dangerous fall since she didnt move at all b4 falling so the next chair could have hit her.. and they even stop the lift to pull her out of the way! luckily i had Ryo to pull me along the first time i got off so that i moved a safe distance away from the ski lift b4 i sprawled into the snow.. haha..
but anyway.. the ski experience left me with 2 swollen ankles, very tight and toned calves and butt, sore shoulders and biceps.. and the desire to ski again.. i've never concentrated on anything so fully, the focus to not fall and just to keep going, and the only one word in my head was 広い8, which means wide-8 cos thats the way to stop or to brake i suppose.. but yah, towards any slope, my mind would just be filled with this word and i would be just instinctively widening the skis into as big an inverted V as i possibly can and bending my knees as low as i can to balance and not topple.. and i was so relieved at the end of the final ride that after the final steep curve, i actually managed to relax and straighten up and just ski past the people who are fallen along the way really smoothly, which led me to realise that prolly i just needed to relax and everything would be ok.. hmm..
maybe i'll try it the next time.. this has been a heck of an experience.. and i wanna learn snowboarding too!!

ski初めて
first time for alot of things.
first time i see a snow storm from my room. that lasted more than 4 hours. and was that kind that actually accumulated at least 12 cm of snow on the ground. in osaka yesterday b4 my flight. woke up at 7 plus to get a call from another one of the singaporeans that it was snowing. i was thinking it was a 10 min snow again and was quite reluctant to go down but i was glad i did. but by 11am it was still snwing and i was quite afraid that the flight to hokkaido was going to be cancelled. cos alot of places flight cancelled, blackouts etc. the trains and all that was late oso, expressways were closed etc. anyway.. nothing happened, the flight was smooth, there was no snowfall at the time of the flight and the weather had cleared up. apparently, it snowed hard every year during winter solstice. but this year was the first time in 12 years that had such dire effects.
went ski-ing today!! it was tiring, and scary when i almost ski-ed off the mountain cos i couldn't really control the direction or speed at the start and there was this horrible steep slope at the beginner's course.in the end, i was half ski-ing sideways to prevent myself from going down too fast and fell down alot of times because i couldn't stop and that was the only way to stop was to fall. but towards the end of the slope, was getting more of the hang of it and am so proud of myself for completing the course. had a basic lesson in the morning for 2 hours by one of the ski instructors at the Sapporo international Ski Center, and then went up the ski lift with Ryo. the ski lift was so scary!! cos the skis were seriously very heavy for me and i was afraid i would slide through the guard rails on the lift like the NTUC escape theme park accident where the two girls slid off the roller coaster ride cos they were too thin for the guard rails. ... but there was kids who were like speed ski-ing like pros down the slope and i was so amazed. alot of snowboarders which looked like it was a very cool thing to do but i think i should prolly practise ski-ing tomorrow again to at least be able to ski down the basic slope without taking an hour half hehe.
now muscles sore and i think i am abit sunburnt but it was great fun i guess. the place was covered with snow, at -5.2 degrees celsius.. and the weather was great without any snowfall to affect visibility. but it was true. u exerted so much energy that u didn't feel cold at all. i was even perspiring under the clothes. there was only light snowfall when i went for lunch and at the end when i had to go back. the sun set at 4pm. haha.. so early.. so i guess today's weather was actually quite perfect. calves and knees hurting.. dunno if tomorrow can wake up hehe.. will post up the photos after i go back. in Sheraton Sapporo by the way..
we had dinner at a 焼海鮮 place in すすきの (Susukino) a place like Kabukicho in Tokyo, something like the hub of sapporo and we actually had dinner at the same place both yesterday and tonite cos the food there was so good. tried different food both days and everything was great! especially the bBq crab and the cheese korroke. the seafood here is super delicious and i had like the biggest scallop in my life yesterday, size of 5 normal scallops. hehe..
okie.. have to sleep .. waking up at 6.30am tomorrow..

new year cards
was trying to remember wat i did on friday.. i didn't do much i think.. my boss was off.. so i spent the whole day trying to figure out an excel sheet that was baffling me. am still sorting it all out today but almost done yay! sense of achievement after this kind of complicated brain work..
weekend was spent making new year cards for colleagues and friends and bosses. this is like a huge thing in Japan, new year cards, and i was looking thru some of the cards ryo received before.. apparently cards are also used to announce new babies, new marriages, show off family photos etc etc. its quite funny, some of the people actually posed for funny photos with their family for the new year cards and its actually quite interesting to collect the cards i suppose. i better start writing mine out so that people can send me back.

ski wear
at ryo's house now playing PS.. was supposed to be making greeting cards for the new year but he's still printing for his parents and his printer is really slow. (2 min printing time for each card!)
but this morning, went to his brother's house to try on his sister in law's ski wear to see if i could fit into hers. she's only 1.5m tall so the pants were a little bit of a problem but the jacket was ok! yay! was afraid i would have to buy and full ski gear can cost up to like almost S$2000! cos i checked the rental rates of ski wear at the ski area and it was 4000 yen per day.. so to ski for 2 days would cost 8000 yen! more than $100 liaoz lor.. and if i were to go ski a few more times, then i might as well buy ski wear liaoz with the cost. somemore to join the ski lessons for 2hours, is about 4000 yen as well. too ex too ex! so it was really a big help that his sister in law could lend me. yay! and we passed the F4 items my sis bought for me to her and she was soooo happy! F4 is like just becoming popular here with aunties (?) and she had been asking me to get F4 stuff for her from Singapore. hehe.. luckily there were lots of people selling off their stuff from last time.. cheaply (^-^)v .. so it was all good.. am going there for dinner later.. 鍋料理 i suppose.. its the best warm thing to eat during winter.. its actually just steamboat lor.. but i like it! cos not oily and i can pick what i like to eat from it. heh..
its supposed to snow tomorrow.. i can't wait! the weather report here is usually accurate... i can't wait!

SNOw SNOW!!
first snow in OSAKA TODAY!!
went for dinner with Ryo (FinallY!!) & after that we hung out at starbucks becos it was sooo cold and it was raining and we just sat there chatting until 9 plus and the rain had thinned.. and we walked out to find strong winds that were blowing the rain in our faces and when the rain got onto my face, i was surprised that it didn't drip/flow off and it stayed thare as a drop of cold rain and i looked up to see white raindrops.. falling along with the wind and it dawned on me that it was SNOWING!! glorious wonderful snow!!
i was sooo happy i started screaming "Snow! SNOW!" and a few old men around me looked at me with shock haha and ryo was like amused but also complaining of the cold and i was feeling totally warm and happy to feel the snow that it just didn't feel cold anymore and i stood there for a moment, feeling the snow on my face and tongue too..sooo soo soo happy to have experienced the first snow of osakA! woohoo! i refused to get into the underpass to go to the station, not wanting to leave the rare snow here. hee hee.. but it made my heart totally warm after that.. kept smiling all the way home. hee hee..

fishbone
i think i have a fishbone stuck in my throat. from sunday. i been feeling a imminent sorethroat. which is strange. cos it doesn't feel like a sore throat but rather the same place where i tot on sunday the fishbone had lodged in my throat. after that i immediately tried to get it out, but when i couldn't feel anything in my throat at that point (after i swallowed), except a little twinge where the bone had been stuck a moment ago, which i had thought was psychological. so i just finished up dinner and thought nothing of it. until now. didn't make the link until i was walking home and was wondering how come my throat hurt. and suddenly it struck me that was the same spot the bone had been lodged. shit. i am a little worried. its been 4 days? wat will happen? except the sore throat feeling, will anything even worse happen?? i dun wan to die!!!
was thinking about my childhood. when people asked me, so wat were u like as a kid? i would think about when i was a kid and i would be thinking, yah i was a pretty good kid, good student, good results, no disaplinary problems. but yet the thing i remember most is my parents hitting me. aLOT. for almost everything that kids do. like accidentally breaking a cup. *whack!*
did badly for any homework. *whack!* luckily that was pretty seldom since it was avoidable.
switching on the tV when my mom was taking a nap ( i was still in kindergarten then) *whack!*
my sis climbing the chair to reach the top shelf of the kitchen. *whack!*
falling sick (Sore throats, fevers, flu) *whack!* of cos we would still be brought to the doctors etc but not before being caned or scolded.
fall down and get hurt *whack!*
i didn't understand what I did wrong. by falling sick? by being clumsy? how was that my fault?
the worst thing was that i was hit with the wrong end of the belt once. i can't even remember what it was that incurred my mom's wrath. but she hit me at least 3 times with the metal part of my dad's belt. on my thigh and my leg started bleeding. i don't think it was by accident. my mom purposely chose that end of the belt i remember, so that i would remember my mistake better. well she succeeded. i don't remember wat i did, i do remember this incident forever. of cos i was crying, and she started crying and applied ointment onto it after the whole fiasco but i didn't ever forget that incident. i don't think i can. i thought it was the most natural thing for all parents to hit their kids until my youngest sis came along. no one laid a hand on her, no matter how rude she was to my parents. i did though. slapped her twice b4 when it was really overboard. of cos after that, i was scolded. my fault? again for everything and anything. when i even talked back to my parents, my dad would shout at me, slap me, or sometimes cane me until i said sorry. what was the deal with the double treatment with my sister? i realised no one's parents hit them b4, in JC/ in UNi, when i asked my friends when we were talking bout childhood. yes my parents tried their best to be good parents, to provide us with everything they could, but why did they hit me so much? why didn't other children's parents hit them? even when they were naughty? the boys especially, i would have thought, but no.. they said that even when their parents scolded them, they would explain wat it was for. and not for things like falling sick! things i couldn't even help! i felt bitter, that i was beaten up even though i was a good kid, i tried to meet all their expectations (possibly to avoid being caned than that i really wanted to do that well). and i felt the injustice of everything when they let my sisters get away with everything, n that i was not appreciated even though i was protective of them and tried to stick up for them when they were not getting wat they wanted.
KAOZ. I'm sorry, i'm just feeling too much bitterness and anger and hate now. now u probably understand me a little more of why i am who i am. and why i prefer living independently as far away from them as much as possible.

sickly rest day
stayed home from work today. feel much better now. laid in bed the whole day.. and even though i couldn't really sleep, really feel much better now even though still twinges in the tummy.
ate dinner and tummy feels weird. i am so craving for coke but i can't drink it, think it'll cause the tummyache to get worse.
hehe just planned a surprise for someone in singapore. so exciting!! hehe.. we'll see how it goes! hopefully the person will be happy to receive it..

sick
i think i kena food poisoning. having fever too. just ate medicine but been feeling nauseaus the whole day. blogging from my bed with my psp and my tummy seems to be hurting even more now. my head too actually. good night n take care people...
last outing with Jaclyn
just woke up. Ryo's off to Hong Kong tonight for a business trip, then Singapore on Tuesday and Wednesday to KL and then back on Thursday. haiz. dunno why abit of headache now, think i caught a cold by sleeping in the buff last night. (#-.-#)
went shopping with Jaclyn at Shinsaibashi yesterday and there was this humongous sale at this leather goods store where everything was at the price of \5000! considering it was leather goods, i bought like a work-type bag for more serious attire and a casual sling back and a small little bag for shopping etc. and she bought a bag for her mom so i prolly can't buy any bags for the rest of the year haha! before the sale, we had lunch at a sushi buffet, and i realised how much my apetite had dropped when i could only eat like 7 plates of sushi and i was full while she ate 15 i think. arhh! ok la. i guess its nothing bad.. and then after the sale, we sat at Mac's to rest and me to drink coke haha. we sat there and i was telling her wat was good at Yokohama cos i passed her the guide book and we sat there just resting and zoboing for an hour ..
we walked around somemore and although it was like only 5pm, the skies were already dark. i bought more socks.. and there was a adidas sale at its shop! very cool, almost all the things were cheaper than usual but in the end i didn't buy anything but a ski cap. wanted a pair of track pants from there but i just couldn't bear to bring myself to buy a pair of tracks pants that cost nearly $100. after that we walked around in search of the Nike Shop and we saw a huge Apple Shop opposite it and there was a live performance by DJ A-1. dunno if he's famous or not, but he's japanese and he was in the states for a few years b4 returning this year. he's quite cool at the live performance, a little chubby and very jovial look. and his tunes sounded so good almost everyone was bobbing their head to them. and we received a free itune card to be used in the itunes shop. hehe! the nike shop however, was quite a disappointment, nothing interesting.
after that we had dinner at a taiwanese mala pot restaurant. it was gooood! the soup was spicier than last time and they had more shell products in the ingredients. dunno what they added but we were so hungry and it all tasted so good that we had almost finished our food when Ryo came at 8 plus. he ordered more food, and we actually managed to finish EVERYTHING! i think jaclyn more than me haha. but it was really really good, i love to eat 鍋料理, all these pot type of food reminds me alot of steamboats which i just love to eat. when ryo came, we told him the spicy side was really spicy today and he took just a sip and he had to drink his drink up. whaah.. enjoyed myself alot yesterday..
after that took pic with Jaclyn ..
i don't look so fat anymore hor! hehe.. but i'm going to miss this girl alot. she was the only person i went out with besides Ryo this whole 4 months, and i will be very lonely again next year w/o anione around again.

i don't look so fat anymore hor! hehe.. but i'm going to miss this girl alot. she was the only person i went out with besides Ryo this whole 4 months, and i will be very lonely again next year w/o anione around again.

Oyster Bar
i received my Mario Kart DS game today! in the evening actually, i had wanted to go make a new pair of specs but turns out i still look ok in my old pair. the laptop is really killing my eyes at work and i think i have to wear specs more often to work instead. but anyway.. was supposed to go make specs and Hongsing offered to go with me but cos the games came so i rushed back to the dorm and collect the games from the caretaker b4 going back to umeda again. but I'm glad we did, cos i think we waited for bout 40 min to go into the oyster bar at NU chayamachi. have been wanting to go eversince it opened and had a super bad craving for oysters. can still remember the oysters i ate at kublaikhan. YUM... so we played mario kart while waiting and it was sooo fun! the racing mode that is.. the other modes are difficult, and not that fun for just 2 people. anyway.. the oysters were well worth the wait. it was bout 9.30pm by the time we sat down and we ordered a platter of like assorted oysters, from seattle, hokkaido and tazmania. the western oysters were pretty small, but the hokkaido one was like huge! super fresh and we felt really good after eating it. we shared a platter of 8 but it wasn't really enough .. craving for more! after that we shared a pasta and ordered another round of oysters, this time baked. hehe... good feast huh.. haven't eaten such a good meal in a long time. been saving money and having a diet of vegetables recently and it worked! lost 2 kg and my fats level decreased to 19%. i just hope they're not from all the wrong places. i realise eating less meat is good for the skin. less toxins or something, but basically breakout less. also ate more fish and i realise i don't really like fried food. once in a while is ok but i get sore throats easily and i don't like the smell of recycled oil. something like the smell of Mac's or KFC but yah.. the kind of smell oil used for many many rounds of frying gives out. yah.. but i like fish (in soup/steamed) n of cos curry fish head haha.. hmm .. had a huge argument last night. why do guys like to give promises or say fake things to make u happy and then contradict themselves after that?? won't that make the situation worse?? haiz. dunno la. i realise we have actually only 3 months left together. watever will be will be.

there was a foreign book sale by Kino today and the books were like going for \420 each! the novels that is.. the non-fiction are still so expensive.. like \1300. .. wat kind of sale is that?? erh. anyway, gave those books a miss, bought tony parsons, and chronicles of Narnia: the witch the lion & the wardrobe. speaking of which, have u seen the movie trailer? maybe the movie was out in singapore already but it looked so epic & so cool!!
finally its friday tomorrow. this week seems so long. haiz.
well ryo should have been back by now but he isnt. and phone nv answer and all that. feeling kinda worried. i hate it when people make me feel that way. don't they know that people care for them??

年賀状
printing and doing up christmas cards & new year cards for my colleagues and friends now. its a big thing, new year that is, and new year cards are supposed to be super important. so i have to send some to my boss too i suppose. hmm. anyway.. i bought Wallace & gromit New year card software, the bookshops come up with tons of different types of new year card design software templates and i saw this wallace & gromit one and couldn't couldn't pass it up since it was dog year next year aniway. heh.. its really cute and only when i was doing up the cards, i realised that gromit doesn't have a mouth. hmm yah i was trying to find one of it smiling but i just couldn't .. shucks. no wonder he always looks sternly at wallace. hmm but anyway i can't use this wallace & gromit one for my Big boss ..it would be a little weird and not really appropriate so i prolly should get something that looks more serious heh.

Arashiyama 嵐山
went to see autumn leaves again but this time in Kyoto (Arashiyama) 嵐山 which is actually quite near my place (ok bout an hour away but all hankyu trains) but it was not bad cos i discovered a Johnny's shoP!!! wahahaha!! it was by accident somemore.. i was just walking around looking for a place to eat and i was trying to read the katakana name of the shops and i was like reading Johnny (in jap) at the side of the building and i was like huh, how come this shop named johnny, reminds me of Johnny's management and Ryo suddenly said hey its a Johnny's shop! and i finally saw the front of the shop:
woohoo! in case u dunno, Johnny's is the management company of SMAP, V6, Tokio, Kinki Kids, Takizawa Hideaki and other super cute male groups. they sell like the concert fotos and goods of these artistes and also backstage photos. woohoO! but pity not allowed to tk any photos inside.. so took a look around and bought takizawa 滝澤秀明 poster for my sis. hehe!! pity smap goods nothing at all except the concert fan which i already have. gah. but at least i've seen one shop! shinsaibashi has another one i t hink, but haven't seen it yet. wahaha! this year has been a great year, i nv thought that i would ever see a SMAP concert/kimura Takuya in real life. even though of cos its not that i talked to him or that he knows me personally, that's good enuff for me!!
guess this year has been pretty much dream come true. living away from home, in japan where i've always wanted to be in, disneyland, kimura takuya, smap, Universal studios, hokkaido this month.. and i think prolly grew up alot too. might have great news next year i think. given what has happened recently.. feeling alot happier and i think i can say that 2005 has been a great year despite being depressed and alone for alot of the year but towards the end, i guess i can say i have never felt happier. hopefully next year will be as good if not better.
anyway, the leaves in Kyoto have almost all turned red with many of the trees having lost their leaves as well. i guess last week was the best season but the leaves were very bright red and it was super cold. so cold until my ears hurt. we had wanted to rent bicycles and cycle around but it seems that most people walked and it was too cold to cycle without gloves and all. luckily we did that, cos there were so many uphill areas and that it would have been really difficult to take photos. but anyway.. i think i managed to make the pictures better colour. the trip to Minoo park dunno why the pictures look very washed out. anyway.. picts here:
mix of autumn leaves and green leaves.. i think all the colours prolly are here
a totally red tree
a view of kYoto.. i like the clouds
this looks like those u see in the phamphlet of Kyoto tourism..
and me posing with a tree hehe..
more photos in my flickr page.. (^-^)
forgot to say i also watched harry potter! but.. not that great. cut out world cup quidditch to just cOrnelius fudge opening the finals. thats all. and ron got realli dumpy and fat and hermoine like become kan cheong spider the whole show, always frowning. like mm yah she very girly suddenly. the triwizard task with the maze was also very poorly done. and no more dobby some of the main elements were changed. aiyah, exciting but i didn't like it. cos all that was going on in my head was just that "man! they changed this/that again!" hmm. go read the book la. even after the movie, ryo was so puzzled bout many things. cos he didnt watch the front movies, and the books havent been read yet. but just by watching the previous episodes u wont understand many of the vital points oso. i dun remember ginny looking so erh.. sallow? and pale? weird la the whole thing.
