finally its the end of the week! and tomorrow is the last day of japanese weekday lessons!! yay!!

apparently i need to take a level 2 test at the end of the lessons. have bought the trial papers to try.. cant expect me to pass since i haven't even learnt any of it yet.

am finally going to the movies tomorrow. super super looking forward to it. have been on a movie obsession these few days.. watching movies i watched before on my comp when i'm all alone makes me feel really really warm inside.. haved watched..
1. 13 going on 30 ("love is a battlefield"-jennifer garner as jenna rink)
2. Anger management ("i'm so pretty and witty and GAY!"-adam sandler as dave with the anger problem)
3. Love Actually ("you know as prime minister, i could always have him killed"- hugh grant as prime minister of britain)
4. Two weeks notice (cant remember any lines but hugh grant is just so delicious)

and been watching desperate housewives. dlded until episode 16 of the first season.. cant wait for the next episode. ARGH. why did maRy-Alice kill herself!?

went on a book buying spree too. was lonely and went to kino and couldnt help but buy "5 pple u meet in heaven" , "The Da Vinci Code" (for a fren's bday) n "howl's moving Castle" (it actually is an english book originally!) although i'm going to watch the movie tomorrow.. but still.. i miss having books to read..... was almost devouring the book on the train.

i'm off to cook my noodles..

the first blooms of peach

today had a great day..

need to thank Tanaka-san and Inoda-san for this wonderful day.

i had asked tanaka-san wat was fun in Kobe and he took the effort to plan a whole day to drive us around and show us around as well. with inoda-san.
in tanaka-san's car

a very well-planned day..
went to the Onsen in the morning.. it was a culture shock. everyone stark naked walking around. of cos males and female separated. my god, have never seen so many saggy breasts and pubic hair in my whole life. arGH, was so embarrassed that i had to strip too. in front of a colleague. very very weird feeling. but the onsen was veri hot. with high iron content, our skin was very smooth after an hour's soak. great experience.

the source of all steam for the onsen

after that, tanaka-san drove us to Roko San (mount Roco). disgustingly high, with horrendously winding roads that made me feel nauseaus after the drive. i think we were bout 600m above ground. at least.

but the view... breathtaking.

could see nearly the whole of Kansai, even osaka, from the mountain.
the vast Kansai

after that, we went to a mini animal farm and it was like a petting zoo.. full of shit on the ground and animals every where. but it was cool. the farm-zoo was high up on the mountain and we could see great views every where. strolling in the cool weather to look at animals was pretty good.

it was off to Kitano to take a walk in a colonial area but unfortunately, the place was closed, we just missed the opening hours. too bad.. but we took a stroll around the area and saw a teddy bear museum and lotsa dogs.

went to Harbourland to have dinner and to see a wonderful sea view of the whole area. we had a Korean buffet and it was delicious. got to tok to Tanaka-san and Inoda-san more and sort of got to noe them better. think the ice broke more and at least we made appt to go see movie again soon. Howl's Moving Castle. yay!

fresh milk ice cream mania

have to work again tomorrow. yucks.

been printing some documents for my office for 2 hours. and I nearly fell asleep.. ate flu tablets last nite and the effects haven't wore off this morning still. Went about my work in a daze. Got some old work to finish up after the printing and I was asked when I could hand in, i gave myself one week. Again.. hmm.. I really dun like to do that. What kind of deadline is too long and what kind is too short? I myself don't noe. Of cos, its better to set a long one but wat if I give the impression that I’m a slacker? What a dilemma. 困ったな。。

I'm finding it hard to breathe in here.. the air is very stale in the office today.

went to kobe and kyoto today. that is actually possible. haha.. kobe is 15 min away from my place and kyoto is an hour away from Kobe. assuming of cos u take the express train all the time. the good thing about japan trains is that they have the express trains. that skips the stations that are in towns with lesser people. so the journey becomes much faster. :)

anyway ..
kobe harbour is beautiful. a really big park, sea view, very chilly sea breeze and just serenity, a big change from the bustling city. could even see mount rokko from the park. Huge rolling mountains. haiz. majestic.

after that took a train for 1050yen. yah. haiz. to kyoto. and wandered around aimlessly looking for the light festival. it was so inaccessible. and cold. didn't really enjoy that. it was kind of dark and i was getting hungry.

in the end, only reached back here at bout midnite. jialatz. tired.

been rushing some work for the past few days. not at all happy at the way they keep changing their mind. depressed cos no progress at all in my jap. getting sick of pple speaking things i dun understand. i should be excelling at my work. that's me!! not this person who doesn't understand instructions most of the time. stressed. constant nagging fear that they would be deporting me back anytime as and when they like. i wan to do well but i really really burnt out. sighz.

today must the happiest day of me being here so far.

1. watched my first live baseball game ever.
Hanshin Tigers Vs Yomiuri Giants. Final score: 6-4 YAY!!! it was like a osaka vs tokyo match. hehe.. at koshien stadium, it was quite a cold afternoon. the place was packed. the atmosphere was electrifying. i finally iunderstood why people went to ball games every weekend. i want to go support the tigers every weekend too!!

2. it began snowing in the middle of the game.

YAY!!! finally i see snow!! AND while watching a ball game. it was so cool!! (both senses) they even had to stop the game halfway and some idiots left cos they tot the game was over. then, the snow thinned and the game went on. it was fun!!!

more jap than ever!

finally a photo of me and my new hair.similar to my old style but then u didnt see the horrible frizz that was the perm last week. this is totally stunning compared to that mess. cut some fringe and i think i look cuter? haha.. :p

Friday, March 11, 2005

finally stomach flu ok. now i might be suffering from stomach ulcer though. i better watch wat i eat.

the weekend again and i did 2 dumb things this week.
1. permed my hair. (with Peiling)
2. rebonded it back. (with Peiling)

DUMB RITE?>!?

waste of money.

wanted just soft curls. i dunno how it became a frizzy perm. YUCK YUCKK YUCK! it was so ugly. after i washed it. It was HORRIBLE!!! now on hindsight, i should have just used a curling iron. wat the hell was a i thinking? had a dreadful week enduring questions and weird stares. or maybe i was just paranoid. but i felt great after i rebonded it tonite. peiling too. of cos we didn't return to thge original salon. this new one we practically had to beg them to rebond our hair as all the salons refused to do the time consuming job after 7pm. luckily, this Gold salon near our place took pity on us and our poor japanese and rebonded for us. a cute jap (duh) guy washed our hair, chatted with us, rebonded our hair and the stylist was so skilful. gave us really COol cuts, we look so jap now with a fringe and all. straight hair is still the best. hahahaha.

clearing my room. have received the second parcel from my family. Hawx sent me my fav canned food and laksa and tomyam soup mix. THANKS! i will only be eating after my stomach is cured though. so happy!! good hair is really impt to a girl's self-esteem... tomorrow was going to eat buffet but obviously, now i can't. for health reasons (my own and my bank account's). shall save money for the upcoming long weekend's touring instead..

kena-ed stomach/gastric/colon flu. and i finally understood why we needed health insurance. saw the doc and it was HUMONGOUSly expensive. he just scanned my tummy with this machine and told me it was a viral infection. and it cost ¥9100! ..... its at a clinic, not a hospital. and the medicine cost another $20!.. luckily we can claim back..

argh. time for rest.

had a good dinner of pasta and pizza last night.

yup, still in japan.

finally sat's jap lessons had ended and we were wandering the streets of Umeda trying to find some buffet to eat. some affordable buffet i mean. finally when we were almost fainting from hunger (@6.30pm) when we chanced upon a chinese Restaurant which had buffet of bout 70 dishes at bout $30. (thats the cheapest we've seen!) so we went in, happily told the waiter there were 5 of us and he said okie, u can begin ur dinner at 8.15pm. !!! wait 2 hours to begin eating!? we walked out and wandered abit more and saw a realli cheap pizza place. had to wait around for seatss and finally we managed to join like 8 tables in the non-smoking area to begin eating. perhaps it was cos i was really hungry, the pasta (bolognaise sauce) tasted wonderful. in total, i bought a pasta set with drinks and fries and a pizza for 1300Yen.

it was great. we sat there talking on gross topics after dinner, got to know all of us alot better, talked about family, our grouches with the japanese (shh..), our animals, and we managed to explain PMS and this guy was giving us advice to reduce cramps by drinking camomile tea. erm.. cos his gf does that. aniway, we laughed until our sides ached and the table opposite us found us so noisy they switched tables. it really wasn'T our fault, they were trying to SLEEP in the place. SLEEP in a fast food restaurant?! they must be nuts... after 2 hours.. finally we got off our butts, back to the aptment to play playstation and chat and drink asahi.

i enjoyed myself so much!!

pantyhose. so common in japan. haiz. i hate it. waste so much time trying to wear it this morning cos i wanted to wear a skirt to work. else my feet might be cold. i was sick of wearing pants. it was a big mistake. their pantyhose was small (prolly to maintain its stretch?) and i had to keep pulling upwards slowly to avoid getting a run with my fingernails. it did keep me warm in the office. but once outside, today had to be exceptionally windy (and cold). everytime i wear the skirt. (i see the pattern!) shivered the whole way home. i hate having to walk down to the laundry room cos its out of the main building. WHY!? why not the guys' laundry room there?! theirs is conveiniently located next to the elevator, while we always to to waddle with our humongous pile of clothes and try to open the door to go outside. From the outside, we have to open the door with the key turned and then turn the handle at the same time to open the door while holding the clothes. u get my point?

at work now in the office. no meeting to attend :( apparently marketing didn't allow me there cos of all the confidential info that was going to be discussed. haiz. oh well. time is passing really slowly. i can't wait for the bell to ring.

ooh it just did. now i can do my jap hw first. sianz. sleepy. i didn't hear the alarm this morning and overslept. luckily, i was just in time.

am addicted to Mac's breakfast set currently. ironically, at ¥368 per meal, its one of the cheapest eating places around.

すみません!

did not realise it's been 3 days. I'm losing track of days, each day passing really fast with half a day of lessons and half a day of work. after wasting time in the morning at lessons, we go for lunch. and then after lunch, an hour is spent reading the papers, doing newspaper cuttings (they ordered me to do it!!) and another hour pottering around trying to read some reports, then waste some time composing some emails, and discussing some stuff with Kana-san, and before i know it, it's 4pm. toilet break, etc.. then come back and surf the web for game industry news and then some misc job of translation and correspondence and suddenly the bell rings and its 5.30pm.

and this passes everyday and b4 i noe it, i've been here for almost 2 months. meaning that b4 i noe it, I'll be back. Its still freaking cold though. i can't bear it anymore...

welcome party and major meeting with overseas subsidiaries tomorrow. my first major meeting! of cos I'm only sitting in, but its good enuff, my first real meeting and I'm pretty excited. after work, more accting to teach /explain to Kana-san and then dinner with them (their treat) at a Korean restaurant.. hope its good!
